Peltophorum pterocarpum - Yellow Poinciana

This is a Yellow Poinciana in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. The picture was taken about three weeks ago. The trees were in full-bloom and the flower fragrance was like Jasmine/Gardenia combined. Incredible!

This is an amazing tree! There is an old song (very old)! I think from the 40's about this tree! I never knew it was actually a real tree! Some of the words....Poinciana your branches speak to me of love........hmm..hmm.... your magic purfume fills the air..!! Where are you David do you know this one!! lol :)

Does your tree bloom in Spring or Summer? These trees bloom in Summer here.

We don't see the yellow poinciana as much over here but it is a beautiful sight!

Yes, they are incredibly beautiful flowering tree! I'm surprised you don't see them there much...as they are native to tropical South America.
