Megaskepasma erythrochlamys-Brazilian Red Cloak

This plant is actually very different from Ondontonema. Its leaves are very large and quilted and the bracts can grow to almost one and a half feet long and the flowers are white. This plant grows much larger; to almost 18 feet tall with about the same spread. They both are in the same family of Acanthaceae though.

The red "justicia".... :o)
These flowers are used to border the garden flowerbeds, but are not allowed to grow taller than 5 inches.

This is not a Red Justicia - Justicia coccinea. This plant even though it's called Brazilian Red Cloak is native to Venezuela. It grows very large...my plant is only allowed to grow to 8 or 9 feet / 2.5 or 3 meters tall. However, it's ultimate potential height is over 18 feet / 5.5 meters tall.

I was pretty sure it was a red justicia, so I googled it.

Native to Venezuela where it grows in tropical woodlands, this evergreen plant bears dark red/scarlet terminal flowers from early autumn into winter. In full bloom, ‘Brazilian Cloak’ is breathtaking with its large flowers against huge leaves.

You got a lot of information there. It all sounds correct...from what I've read and experienced with my plants.

They also develop a pretty thick woody trunk...and they can bloom all year in full Sun. However, my plants always bloom starting in late Summer through very early Spring.
