I only wish I had gotten a shot like flcrazy because this butterfly has a beautiful patch of iridescent turquois (sp) on the top portion of the lower wing. Absolutely breathtaking but like flcrazy, I would be running everywhere, tripping over rock piles (lol) in order to get the shot. At 62, my running capabilities have diminished significantly.

Love your close -up Skippy, you can see the wonderful detail of the butterfly's body, that you can't see in mine. Just look at all the white spots it's sporting. Quite unique !

I can sure sympathise with the bruised shins and stubbed toes! I tried to get a picture of a little blue fellow (well, he was blue on the top of his wings) but he would NOT rest with his wings open...and he looked browny/gray in my pics... did some damage to the garden too..following him hither and yon!!
Great picture! He has such elegant long legs and a velvet jumpsuit,hahaha! Diohio has a pic of this Spicebush Swallowtail butterfly photographed with his wings open. I can see what you mean about the irridescent turquoise.
