this chapel was a nissen hut, that italian prisoners of war converted into a place of worship

thank you for posting it boyd, i can see why its an attraction. does it get used for anything when the tourists arent on the island? hows the new greenhouse?

hi lyd,
the chapel is still used occassionally as a place of worship, but it is more of a tourist thing these days. it stands by the churchill barriers on a site that was a pow camp. and is the only hut left. one of the original prisoners came back two years ago to do some restoration to the artwork inside. although i am not into religion it is one of my favourite places on the island, and shouldn't be missed by any visitors.

although thispic has nothing to do with gardening i thought the people who have shown interest in orkney may like to see it. it is a major tourist attraction on the islands
