Is he eating a chicken carcass ? Hes enjoying it whatever it is !!!
26 Jan, 2009
It is a chicken carcass Bonkers..I had only thrown it down the bottom of the garden about 10 minutes before he came along.......amazing sense of smell
26 Jan, 2009
I,m not surprised that he keeps coming if you feed him like that ...LOL..
We use to take our old dog across the fields and he would often stop to play with a fox , we could see them both bobbing up and down in the corn playing and chasing , it was a lovely site ;o)

I dont exactly feed him all the time Amy.....only when I have got bones that I want to get rid of. If I put them in the rubbish bag, then the cats rip the bags to pieces when they are put out in the morning. Freddie always appreciates them he he he.......All the neighbours moan but I dont like to think of him and maybe his little family going hungry.........

Oh can you imagine one of those beautiful Scottish islands with deer otters golden eagles ospreys etc - wouldnt matter how wild we got would it ?
That said with few washing facilities we might require huts several miles apart ! Probably why these wild life stalkers need to stay down wind ..lol
26 Jan, 2009
you know something guys, that would be my idea of heaven, an island off the coast of scotland, just me and the wildlife
26 Jan, 2009
Just US and the wildlife then.. with occassional visit from David Attenborough , Simon King Ok Oddie but insist you keep the noise down.
26 Jan, 2009
Brilliant photos - you should be proud of them all. Fantastic.

Fantastic photos Milky.
Around here it is the coyotes who howl. I'm not sure I've ever heard a fox do anything except yip.
When I was on the farm the coyotes would come in for the chicken carcasses which we tried (without much success) to bury in the manure pile to compost. The coyotes could smell them even buried 5 feet deep in manure. They are very bold especially when there was a few of them in a pack.

Thanks people for all the lovely comments, and Bonkers....it wouldnt matter if we were all a few miles apart on this island that were are all going to take over, cos we have all got our lap tops he he.....it could be like home from home. Gilli, you should hear these foxes when they are mating.....you would think someone was being urdered the noise they make....and it seems to go on forever...........
27 Jan, 2009
Ah more fox photos, Milky! great!
29 Jan, 2009
Oh yes I ve heard that too Milky ..apparently they can get locked together and it can go on for hours.
29 Jan, 2009

great photo Milky. I hand reared 2 fox cubs onve from around 10 days old till they were about 3 months. They make the most unusual noises as cubs .It was a lot of work but very rewarding. I called them Jasper and carrot they went on to have a good life But onced released they kept coming back which I expected them to but not to kill my chucks. It must have been their way of thanking me LOL

~quite often my husband goes out really late with the dogs and sometimes in the dark the dogs know a fox is there beside them and stop or turn round but they don't bark~ and one occasion as they came back into the houses it followed them down the road!
We often hear them howling just outside the back gate.
