as its winter and cold we have all been going off the subject of gardenibg recently. paintings sculpture cats dogs birds snowladys...lol. i know a lot of us enjoy the distraction from the horrible weather outside. you are a talented artist and i for one enjoy looking at your stuff. :-))
4 Feb, 2009
That is not looking half as menacing as it was Nosey......its brilliant....
4 Feb, 2009
Thats a pretty menacing portrait, but i admire the skill and artistry,
it's a pity that some people dont like the inclusion of our other interests, and hobbies, as i think it helps to give insight, and creates momentum to a site that otherwise would have to exclude the Brits during our dreary winters,
4 Feb, 2009
And the Canucks....I agree FF.
4 Feb, 2009
I like the picture.
It is interesting to see photos of members' cats, dogs, budgies, paintings, snow people, wellies, sculpture, etc.
With this one, I just keep being drawn to the eyes. :o)
Please take that as a compliment. Terra. x

Hope you're feeling OK after your little blip last week, just wish the weather would pick up! Roll on Spring!

5 Feb, 2009
Hi NoseyP, you're so right when you say - go where your talent is. She worked in Accounts for 18 months and then decided she wanted to pursue art again so she's doing an Art & Design Diploma and hoping to go to Uni afterwards - she is going down the Graphic Design route :-)
5 Feb, 2009
Hi Dawn ~
You say you're not good at art yourself, but....
You've produced a clever, artistic daughter.
You get lots of brownie points for that Lol. :o)
5 Feb, 2009
brilliant dawn i only know because i didnt.i went and did catering because its the only course i fancied wear my mate was going.hes not even my mate and hasnt bean for years.i only started drawing again in 1992 and i left school in 1977 so i realy wasted my life realy.i used to go to evening classes and that was because i wanted to be a tattooist lol or i wouldnt be doing it now.its handy that im a pretty good cook and i can do a good tattoo but you get my point.here here terra bye the way.ive no doubt your daughter would of bean an adequate accountent or she wouldnt of lasted 18 months.give her a big pat on the back for me.im a natural scruff and messy.i try not to be so messy i cant seam to help it.i look scruffier in a nice suite than i do in jeans and a t-shirt lol.my brothers the tecknical drawing type.its a real uphill struggle without diplomas i still am strugling
5 Feb, 2009
Thanks TT - she takes after her Dad though!!! Ha ha.
5 Feb, 2009
Shame about the lost years NP. I think such big decisions have to be made when your young and I dont think any of us really knew what we wanted to do at that age. I'll give her that pat on the back from you, to be honest at the time I wasnt too pleased but now I realise she was right, she's really enjoying what she's doing and if she's happy, then I'm happy. PS. Scruffy is good, lol.
5 Feb, 2009
NP ~ Yes, don't worry about scruffy ~ Your dogs don't mind. :o)
Those years are not a total waste. You can cook better than a lot of people !
I don't think you realise what wonderful talents you have as a sculptor, painter etc.
And you still have lots of years to make more wonderful drawings and artwork :o)
5 Feb, 2009
lucky for me it is lol.money doesnt give you happiness theres lots of bored with there lives rich people and theres natives with apserlootly nothing who have a full and complete life.art mite not make you rich but it can make you very fullfilled.i think i like the struggle and i think if i won the lottery it wouls spoil me in some ways.the other thing id love to do if i could is look after animals in zoos.another crappy paid job but who cares.i think the dogs get a better life with a scruffy git whos layed back myself .your daughter desrves a pat on the back.shes gone from good pertential money to maybe not that much.a big step for a young persen.ow ill do my best terra.ill probably have a cardiac arrest now you said that terra lol
5 Feb, 2009
your right about that dawn.i know so many kids drop out of colage for factory work including me but i never realy wanted to be a chef though i do a mean spag bol lol .ive only realy realised who i realy am recently.18 year olds seam so grown up when your 12 but not when your 30.so is life.its hard to pass on wisdom sometimes and it normaly only comes with age
5 Feb, 2009
There's that phrase ~ hindsight is a wonderful thing !
All the experiences we have in life are what I call "character building".
They make you what you are.
NP ~ your life has made you realise how nice it is to create artwork, and how wonderful it is to spend time with animals.
Those are two things a lot of people never have the opportunity to experience ! :o)
5 Feb, 2009
so true terra i guess ive always bean learning im not called nosey for nothing lol
5 Feb, 2009
Hi NP, If i were to draw a self Portrait it would look like Angelina Jolie, hehe, Your Portrait is Brill, A bit dark maybe but it definatley looks like you, Amazing...
5 Feb, 2009

5 Feb, 2009
Are you doing this in pastels NP? Is it finished yet? :-)
6 Feb, 2009
Hi NP, I gave her that pat on the back, literally - she said, Wot You Doin. Lol. You know what they say ..... if only we could go back knowing what we know now - how amazing would that be but it dont work like that does it. Enjoy your art NP, Dawn
6 Feb, 2009
thank you dawn nice one lol

It is difficult to draw and paint your own face on paper or canvas because you see not only your face but your innermost self. I've had a go years ago but it wasn't easy. It is nice to have enough money to live on but happiness, love and understanding, and what comes from within the heart of a person that is important, not what you possess or how much money you have. We have a wonderful world of beauty around us, especially the morning skies, the wildlife, the flowers and trees, but I'm afraid sometimes people are too busy with their lives sometimes to notice. If you paint or take photographs, go walking in the countryside, or garden you notice all the changes in the seasons, breathe the fresh air, and look closely at the plants, their shapes colours and smell the different perfumes. Children are wonderful at opening our eyes to see things from such a simple understanding of things. Such wonder. Keep up the painting and sculpture
and just enjoy the spirit of creating things for others to enjoy.
