I can't resist commenting on such a beautiful rose! Roses always make me go into a heavenly trance! Does your late mum's garden have any more roses? ~ Stephanie

Nice climber!
My climber produced yellow colored blooms last season, but got walloped by the extreme cold that we had this year and is struggling to come back this season. I have given it the best organic treatments that I have this spring and it it is looking better, but I suspect that the extreme cold this winter might have set it back a tad. We'll see what happens..

Do you know the name of it Seaburngirl?
I have one that looks very similar - such a beautiful pink & a lovely perfume. Mine is called English Miss, maybe that is yours too?
I have a gorgeous rose called Margaret Merril & I have never smelled such a lovely perfume - it is creamy white with open centre, I have a photo of it somewhere, I must see if I can find it.

It is 'New Dawn', won the RHS garden of merit award in 1935. it is often used a the parent for many of the new climbers bred since.

Thanks seaburngirl. I have heard of that one - in fact I think I nearly bought it once when I wanted a climber or rambler!
I went for something else instead at the time & now I 've forgotten the name of the one I bought!! I'm not too happy with it though, it has lovely flowers if it is dry & sunny, but the flowers 'ball up' terribly when it rains, so you can imagine they are not very good this year!!!
Maybe I should replace it with 'New Dawn' - it would be such a fag to get it dug up now though!! I've had it about 4 years!

after 4 yrs it shouldnt be too difficult to dig up. give it a go.
