The wall.

The wall.

This is the wall around the horse chestnut tree, to show you why I can't get up onto the area to plant anything!

No Aubretia to plant on the edge Spritz...would look marvellous hanging down especially with Golden Saxatile.

Husband had to add the little fence when Henry was a year old and decided to follow me up the lane by scrabbling up the wall and over the other side! We couldn't believe that he managed it...

I can't get over the fence and under the branches of the tree!!!

Yes, Jacque, I leaned over and planted them - with difficulty!

Janey - it's a possibility, but the soil is full of tree roots. I could have a go, though! Thanks for the thought. :-)

There's actually an old mill wheel set in it further along. I tried to get some aubrieta to grow from the middle, but there isn't enough soil in the hole. It looks a bit weedy - but it did kindly seed itself into the gravel underneath!

You couldn,t want anything more attractive to surround a garden than a nice natural stone wall and an old mill wheel as a bonus .. superb...

I think the aubreita is a fantastic idea Spritz. I know a lot of people don't like it but snow in summer would be lovely there too.

That might work, I have some in my scree bed - I could try to get some rooted pieces up. It wouldn't matter if it spread there. Of course, it gets shaded when the horse chestnut tree gets its leaves.
