Adrift in the Snow

I'm hoping it is all downhill from here. All the largest mounds are the beds. I pile the snow on them to help them be uncovered last. Helps things not start and then get a final hard frost, the real killer, late spring frosts.

Thanks. I'm a focal point on the road. The landlord built it for his wife as an idealic whimsey of hers to have across the yard to rent out. There were to be two more, a red and a yellow. All in a line. I think she chose the spot for the open sun, because I have great sun, much more than she, on my garden. Right along the road in the corner of a yard. I garden somewhat just for the street. :-)

Well it's a wonderful house and a fantastic location - looking forward to seeing photos of your garden when the snow's all gone.

Summer is our time to forget winter exists. :-) Thanks for the comments. I'm hoping to give a better garden show for the street this coming year....lol.

I pile the snow on my roses too GT. It sure helps them survive the winter a lot.

Longer days coming Gt, do you see the Northern Lights over there?

I'm amazed what it can doo Gilli. I stack straw on the beds and seeds survive that should'nt, works well.
Janey, we usually have great northern light shows, all winter, but this is a low year, I've only seen a little green a few times. I tried a photograph, but I need a tripod for those night shots.

GT, are there bears close to your place?

Sometimes. One was around a little downhill last year. We only see them after april, once it's warm enough and enough snow gone that they can get back down here from their sleeping dens. Away they go again in september.

Oh you still have so much snow there.

Still a way to go. Haven't broke the freezing point yet, though the sun is burning off the snow anyway at last. We get the mud and runoff late April. We did get more than usual this year.

What a beautiful home you have, can't believe you have no water connected, but then I don't suppose you need to go far to get water, just fill your buckets with snow & wait for it to melt :)

Thank you, Zandra and Littledove.
I have collected the snow on many occasions. Takes a long time to get warm enough to use for my plants, but they like it. The snow and ice preserves us. Without it, we would dry up completely, we get a desert yearly precipitation.

I'm an eastern view, PP, so I miss the common band of light in the north, but a big show is really amazing. This year is a low year for lights, I've only seen then twice! Usually they are around 20 days each month.
