Do you remember I posted a pic of this cottage in the next village to ours last year? Here it is enjoying having new golden thatch laid.

Beautiful cottage...... lovely to see traditional thatching - I like it when the thatcher has a signature animal he puts up on the roof, like a pheasant or something made from the straw/reeds.

He...he Ff! Bet they're hoping it will be done soon LOL!
Sid.....it is a stunning cottage, we'll have a look in a couple of weeks when it's finished and see how it looks then.

It's nice to see the old crafts being kept alive.

Apparently, our house was originally thatched. There are traces in the loft space. I'm glad it's not now - I prefer a solid tiled roof! The thatched cottages do look very attractive, though.

Was it Spritz? I think they look wonderful but the risk of it being damaged would worry me a lot these days. It has been finished now and they have done a wonderful job.

I love the name of the cottage , the cottage is beautiful so pretty .. I hate to say it but a couple have burnt down in this area this winter , such a shame , luckily nobody has been hurt . !

That is such a risk Amy, whether accidental or not....I wonder if there is some fire retardent proofing they put on when it's finished?....the insurance must be astronomical!
