Pots of tulips and daffodils brighten this area. The pots will be put somewhere out of sight when the flowers are over, and the leaves will be able to die down naturally. The border will then become a blaze of colour from the azaleas and new leaf growth of the acers - uncluttered by dying foliage.

Just wonderful. The blooming bulbs mixed in are so enlivening!
Mine are all potted up as well, for different reason, very portable.

An amazing garden you have Fourseasons, wish I lived nearer for a visit! I would love to try the topiary.......which type of hedging would you suggest for quicker growth, as I'm a bit short on patience!! lol

Problem with a quick growing plant is that it would need pruning very often. Box is good - we found one with a central, sturdy, stem and created a spiral. We've also had great success with yew. The golden ones look good in the winter. We shape them according to the way the plant lends itself - could be an animal, or a man or just a ball or square.

Thank you for letting me know how you get bulbs into the borders - I shall be doing that next year!
