This is growing in an empty block next door and I am already being tempted in having a little portion uprooted and potted for myself.......

It's a bit like a lambs tongue fern isn't it.

Absolutely beautiful, exotic looking plant. It appears to me it may be a Calathea species...however, it also resembles a type of arum possibly.
Please let us know when you find out what the genus is.

Yes, let us know...it looks like it would be easy to separate.
It looks like a huge clump of Calathea zebrina...just a guess.

Yes I have just looked it up and it is a Calathea zebrina plant, now I will finally give it a name!! Good guess I must say and thanks again Delonix :-)

Panther:
I though it looked like Calathea zebrina. It is sometimes difficult to identify from a computer photo. I'm glad I could help.
Calathea are very easy to separate. I have Calathea in my yard and just pull them out and stick them in another part of the yard...and very easily they start growing again. Fiji would be the ultimate easy climate to move these plants, since it so ultra-tropical. Lucky you! LOL!

Yes it does seem a very easy plant to separate Delonix, I will have to do this soon too I guess, before the building where its growing close to gets occupied.

Yes, it would be a wonderful addition to your gorgeous tropical garden!
