I have the dark one too DD, mine has a flower bud on i noticed the other day, not as advanced as yours though Spritz

Not so far, as I wanted it to get a bit bigger, but it will get pruned from next year onwards. I don't think you cut them right back - I shall have to find out.
It's well ahead of S.nigra, as Angie said. That is only ust opening its leaves.

i have this plant . they look lovely in bloom. i have the black one too but that new this year
