Hosta undulata 'Albomarginata'

Now that looks fabulous Spritz and maybe, if I can keep the slugs at bay, mine will grow this year.

In my case, as you probably know, it's snails. I used those organic pellets as the shoots were coming up. So far, so good! I have some anonymous Hostas, too, bought at the local small nursery for peanuts. Shame I can't name them, though.

Well Spritz in my garden most plants are anonymous other than they are Geraniums, Poppies, Fuchsias etc. One day, with a lot of GoY assistance,I'll know their different types and names. Love Hostas.

I just picked on up with this look, they called it, var.Karin. Not very exotic.....lol. I didn't realize one would make me want a bunch more....lol. (my secret, no slugs up here)

Greenthumb, how lucky you are not to have slugs - do you have snails? They are the bane of my life! I wish I could get Henry to eat them like he does spiders! LOL. He just sniffs at them and walks away. :-(

No snails either, a very limited selection of pests, though black fly, the aphid, can get real bad. We have mosquito instead. Plants look fine but tending them is a test for a month or so.
That would be perfect if henry learned to at least crunch the shells. :-)

Yes, it really would! He could learn to sniff them out, but all he wants to do is find stones - which he knows he shouldn't have...or prunings which he chews up and leaves for me to clear up!

I don't fancy mosquitoes, gnats are bad enough...they always bite me on the bit of my back that gets exposed when I am bending down - I get a brown streak across there when we get sunshine, too!

lol...:-) Any gardner with sense would recognize if there was even a glimpse. Like my back of the neck tan stripe. :-)

are hosta`s good under tree area`s spritz.....? i have an area behind tree`s and want to plant something but not sure what to put there,, need some addvice really

Yes, as long as it's damp and not dry soil. Also you have to beware of slugs and snails! Ferns, too - they like the same conditions. I also have lots of tiny pretty plants that live happily in the damp shade, e.g. Omphalodes cappadocica, Anemone nemorosa, Corydalis flexuosa, Convallaria, Geranium phaeum and G. nodusum - plus there's Tiarella and Ajuga - oh, and Pulmonaria. Hope that helps!

If it's drier there, then go for Vinca minor...you can get variegated leaved ones, doubles, colours from white, mauve purple to plum.

If all else fails, there's Pachysandra - but I don't really like it...others might!
