I only have a few different types of Iris. This one is called 'Rare Edition', it's the prettiest one I have, the rest I have are just good old-hand-me-downs....lol

I love the combination of speckles and linear design on these...adds a lot of interest, especially, in a closeup

Very striking!

Thanks everyone, I had given up on Irises, and ran across this one and said, "what the heck"...., I will try them one more time. Didn't know it but I was planting them too deep all those years and they never bloomed....lol). So I did a little research before I planted these , figured out what I had been doing wrong. All it took was a pretty, sparkling bobble to make me take notice and pay attention to what I was doing,....lol
I'll have to post my other irises Bonkers. You'll get a kick out of them, think they came from the Stone Age, and you'll see I wasn't kidding about them....:-) Thanks a ton for the nice thoughts !

Thanks Arlene, and yes the bearded iris is in bloom here, they are the first ones to bloom for me, second will be the dutch irises.

A beautiful Iris. So glad you decided to try one more time. :-)

I think that I've figured out the rhizome planting method, too. Will hopefully be looking forward to the lovely flowers of Iris "Dutch Chocolate" and "Butter and Sugar" this year, heehee! Of course, they won't be in my favourite blue, like yours. :-(

Ooooh did someone mention chocolate and sugar !!! You've got my stomach all excited now....lol. I will have to google these two David, they sound deliciously wonderful. My mind is racing with what they must look like !

Awesome iris! Such beautiful color design!! I love irises. From your photo date, yours were in bloom about a month before mine.

Thanks Charlie, one of the small advantages of living farther south. I don't have to wait as long to see my spring blooming flowers. The advantage ends when summer comes though....lol. I'd love to have your less humid summer days, to be sure ! To bad we can't have our cake and eat it too...;-). Btw, the seeds you gave me did great, I posted a pic of the few that are in bloom already, thanks a million for sending them to me. It tickles me to no end to think these plant's parents were blooming in your garden hundreds of miles away just last summer. I just love plant collecting !
14 Jun, 2009
Cool!! Glad to hear the seeds did good and that I added to your collection! : ) I'm enjoying mine as well - my Tithonia Torch plants are gettin' big!
17 Jun, 2009
That's great ! Glad to hear it .....:-)
