Thank you for the encouraging comments - hard to imagine what should be a pretty little house and garden being so neglected of course that happens if an elderly person can no longer manage but previous owner younger than me so no excuse ..so disinterested in gardening sold part of the garden to the neighbours and i want it back ..sob

Should really have taken some before photos how many of us fail to do that ?

Thankyou Dawn...lots more areas to tackle, but happy that the pond has become such a central feature for the wildlife ! Leaving large area at back of garden covered in nettles for the butterflies !

27 Apr, 2009

You're welcome BB. I think you and I will always have new areas to tackle! I've noticed alot of insects around the pond at the moment so I guess these are great for the birds. I can see why we're all encouraged to have a pond no matter how big or small. I have lots of nettles along the bank of the brook and elsewhere, so hopefully lots of happy butterflies. My perennial weeds are looking brilliant at the moment, lol.

Aye Dawn those bugs over the pond will bring the bats out again soon ..thinking of hiring our home out for one of those horror films , the rooks the bats the churchyard spooky ..we even have a sealed off room at the end of the cottage that locals tell us was used as a mortuary being next to the church !

I want to open it up but Jane has images of Michael Jacksons Thriller video ...

27 Apr, 2009

BB, I would have had that room opened up first thing! I love mysteries and just wouldn't be able to wait. I vote for opening up the room! Please take pictures when you do :)

Ok Gee,will work on it ! Lol

28 Apr, 2009

We saw a bat at the weekend BB, they live in a locals loft, lol. As they are protected there they will stay. Bit spooky here too, we have mist lying over the pond on certain mornings. I'm with Gee, please open the room up - blimey, hope they didnt leave a body behind before going to the churchyard - hope you sleep well tonight, ha ha.

LOL Dawn....a project for Janes half term break !!! The bats in the belfry next door should be out soon...lots of flying insects about,as you say, recently ! Not today though...wall to wall rain last 12 hours ! : (

28 Apr, 2009

Cant wait to hear what's inside the sealed room, lol. Lots of spiders I suspect.

Oh no, not more rain, been lovely here but lots of rain forecast tomorrow.

29 Apr, 2009

29 Apr, 2009

Hi Dawn....Jane here ! Jane doesnt care ..just good to have 3 days off ! Lol

30 Apr, 2009

That's good Jane, every day off is better than one at work (as long as we get paid for it), lol. x

30 Apr, 2009

Got it in one Dawn ! Lol

Wow, I'm surprised the Cytisus 'Burkwoodii' grows over there for you guys. If it gets very much rain on them here, they die of root rot. Glad you can grow them though, I just love the multicolored bloom and the evergreen stems.

Well Flower ours must be a different variety that only grows in the wet ! as rain and some heavy snowfalls this year have certainly kept this one pretty wet .. we ve had 2 really wet summers but forecasters telling us this year going to be hot and sunny ! Not sure how they know that as cant seem to forecast tomorrows weather ...

4 May, 2009

Bet the Brooms just hate our heavy clay soil when it stays wet. Bet that's the problem for me. You got that right...LOL, they have a hard time getting the weather right day to day over here too ! Hopefully if you're going to have a sunny, hot summer, we will get some of your rain ! I can always hope, right ? ...;-)

4 May, 2009

Youre welcome to as much rain as you can manage. We would just love some of that lovely hot sun ! Lol
