You're so right! We can have pansies and violas every month of the year. I, personally, prefer violas, but I "inherited" these pansies in the garden when I moved into my house at the end of January.

I am completely torn between the two, Pansies give bigger and more showy flowers but Violas have more flowers and are longer lasting, I guess I will just have to grow both!

I think that you have "hit the nail on the head" for me,Oby!
My seedlings of Viola "Frosted Chocolate" have recently germinated, and know that nthey may well last till Christmas. a mass planting up of them in a suitably-coloured bulb bowl will look amazing - if i can achieve this. :-)

In my mind Pansies and Violas are the most usefull and versatile of plants giving colour when everything else is just starting to grow.
A lovely mass of colour.
