Tree Fern and other ferns
Comments on this photo
Tree ferns are easy to keep Janey. All you have to do is cover the crown over the winter period. I use the fallen leaves in the autum, and tuck them in the crown, and that's it. I dont even cut the fronts, as they themselve gives them protection. In the Spring, I cut down the damged fronts, and start the cycle all over again.

Those are great pots you have them in, too. I love your Mediterranean garden plan! just beautiful!

Janey go and get a tree fern, and if you're not sure if it's going to survive, live it in the pot, then you can keep it in a safe area for the winter

Louis:
Incredible garden! Are those Dicksonia antarctica - Tasmanian ferns?

Hi Delonxix 1, Thank you for your nice comments. Yes, they are Dicksonia Antarticas, and they survive the winter, as long as I cover the crown.

Louis, I know they are on of the hardiest tree ferns...tolerating 20 degrees F./ -6.7 degrees C.

Those tree ferns are stunning.....are they hard to look after here Louis? Your garden looks sheltered from the pic...wouldn't mind trying one, but what about the winter months?
