Bernieh, I agree with you...it almost looks like the plants growing here in San Diego, CA also.

Thank you Delonix1. The palms that I grow are Tracacarpus – Cycads – Humilis – Cordylines - Phoenix Canariensis – and Tree Ferns. I also have Fatsia Japonicas. I think, that by growing palms, it gives the garden a new perspective. I also have grapevines, fig tree different types of ferns, and of course, loads of different types of colourful flowers. My all time favourite plants are the Geraniums, then fuchsias, begonias, bizzy lizzies, to name but a few LOL. I guess, you can grow anything in California....wish we had your climate..... mind you, I would be ruined, coz would spend all my money on plants !!!

Louis:

Do you have Trachycarpus fortunei or the more unusual species like: martianus, oreophilus and wagnerianus? These other species are almost as hardy as T. fortunei. It looks like you have in this photo, a Washingtonia robusta or filifera?

If you like Geranium may want to check out some of my older photos...all species grow wild here along the freeways and the trailing pink and purple is very widely used in medians as ground cover.

No Louis you wouldn't ruined. lol! Many people here trade plants or just give them away. I have many plumeria varieties that people gave me (cutting) when admiring their plants. Most people are willing to share.

I have the Trachycarpus fortunei, and yes, I do have a Washingtonia robusta in this picture.

I thought it looked like a Washintonia robusta - Mexican Fan Palm. These trees are the most widely grown palm in California...even more popular and naturalized than the native Washingtonia filifera - California Fan Palm.

In canyon areas here they are weeds...growing over huge areas by the hundreds or thousands. They will even grow in between sidewalks and in asphalt like Phoenix canariensis - Canary Island Date Palm. I hate to say this, however, I pull many seedlings out of my yard all year.
