False Acacia trees in full bloom. (Robinia pseudoacacia (False acacia))

I have three of these big trees in my garden. They look and smell wonderful.

Lucky you, I have rarely seen this in flower, never mind the amount of flower on these.

They obviously like the drier climate here in Hungary. The countryside is absolutely smothered with them at the moment. It's an amazing sight. There a areas of Acacia woodland and they are along all the roads. They are the most prolific tree here. Apparently they were introduced in the 19th century to help control the erosion of the sandy soil on the plains.

The only one we usually see is the golden form 'Frisia' which reaches only to about 5m. if we are lucky. Weird to think of them growing wild and so large in what I would assume is a much harder winter climate. Of course the upside is the warmer summers. Win some/lose some.
