Oh Jacque had a double take there as looks just like the one next to our pond in the rocks ..trouble is they have such great long - winded latin names so always struggle with varieties .

We have some Japanese painted ferns which look pretty.

I like to watch the lightning always have done. My mother used to be scared of it for some reason when she was alive. It is said that it puts nitrogen back into the soil Jacque.

My Mum was the Same about Lighting Lin? & My Dear Nan would cover all the House Mirrors ? Any idea Why Lin?

18 May, 2009

Don't know Jacque but my mum used to draw the curtains and cover the mirrors. In fact she used to tell me to come away from the window, but I used to count the seconds between thunder and lightning to see how far away the strike was. I was told that it was one second per mile. I've know my mother to go to the bottom of the stairs in the darkest corner and wait there until the storm abated if it was a really bad one.

O yeah i remember My Mum& Nan saying stay away from the Window 2 now u mention it Lin ?

Strange wasn't it Jacque. Perhaps it was something passed down through the families or something.

??? A Old Wives Tale i Should Think Lin! Still many of those around :)

18 May, 2009

It could take over your life if you went around believing in all the old wives tales although they must have sprouted from something happening at some stage. The not walking under the ladder because it's unlucky one comes to mind Jacque....well if there is someone up there painting you could get covered in spots or the paint tin get dropped on you. Common sense really although if the ladder is near the kerb and you are supersticious and walk into the road around the ladder you could get knocked over by a car. I wonder how that one got started.
