Thanks Terra and Sandra its a really lovely shrub, quite unusual not many nurseries stock it, I inherited it when we moved here, although the flowers are similar to the Weigela they are smaller and prettier and have a wonderful honey fragrance.

Yes Janey similar but not as well known, quite uncomon, but very pretty and i JUST LOVE IT!

Oooh: something new to me! Googling around, I find this is p'bly Dipelta yunnanensis. There also is a rose/violet flowering one with gold throat and dark leaves, D. venticosa. Caprifoliaceae family which includes honeysuckle and elder, which may account for the fragrance. Thanks for sharing!
