Robinia Frisia

Robinia Frisia

There's only one branch left after I chopped it down, but it's still beautiful. Why do I buy things that will quickly outgrow my small garden?

I love this tree though!

Me too, in some garden article recently, I read that it was considered vulgar by some!!!! As there's only one branch, it waves to me like a flag from the bottom of the garden, I know it will probably have to go next year, but it is so beautiful.

Lovely tree, but it will grow to a humungous ( I love that word!) size I know 2 people who've removed one min the last few years cos they grew too big!

The first time I chopped it I thought it was finished, but it sent up 2 runners which were not the same lovely yellow. We got rid of those and it sent up a branch from what was left of the trunk and it was lovely so I left it this year. It sent up one runner this time which was removed. It doesn't look as though it was grafted anywhere so it's a mystery to me where the runners come from. I also fell for an article in some garden magazine many years ago and hunted out a rhus typhina dissectum (stags horn sumach), it was not easy to find at the time..... if only it had been harder, It went berserk... My front garden was just Rhus!!! I have paid 2 men at diferent times over the years to dig it out and I still get the odd little sprouting raise its little head. I'll never learn.

Mine is planted among other trees hopefully it will be restricted, I shall watch it, but don't think I will remove it even if it gets big. Instead if getting taller it seems to get wider, more spread out.

RHus, Bornagain, tell me about it. One of my customers' neighbourts has one and it suckers into her garden. Just can't get rid of it!
