monarch butterflies

my lovely swan plants have been totally covered by these hungry beings
so i watched and waited to see if they would eat the whole plant
ok this one is totally fed up and is going away
so thats what it is up to sleeping the feed off
surprise its woken up and turned into some thing very beautiful
these butterflies have no predators and are very tame some times wintering over in a flower garden allowing you to gently pick them up and feed them with sugar or honey.
so here it is on my arm as i sent it on its way after its wings had dried out

Difficult balance there, If would be so nice to enjoy both the lovely plant as well as the butterfly. I think I'd squish all but one caterpillar. :-))

they advertise that they are poisonous to eat so the birds leave them alone
so they are brightly colored for that reason.
hence they will allow you to pick them up as they are not afraid of any thing.
