I've never grow this plant but I, too, remember seeing packets of seeds for sale in the old Woolworths when I was a boy in London.
This is a nice flower! ?

Wow! I love the white flower. I only see the purple-colored one here. It does grow extremely, extremely fast, though. I know by the end of the second year in the ground it can grow to 80 ft. It should do very well there with all the rain.

WOW, WOW! 80ft in just a couple of years??? That's more than the 'Mile-a-Minute' vine grows!!! ?

Yes, it's almost as fast as the very common (here) tropical Solandra maxima (Cup of Gold Vine). It's among, if not the fasting growing vine in the world. You can almost watch Cup of Gold Vine grow. It will take over a humongous area within a couple of years if not cut back drastically. It has beautiful very large, fragrant flowers which smell like vanilla and coconut.

I didn't know that they came in different colours. I grew one once, the flowers were white but they turned purple just before they dropped off.
