it has special meaning for me today. It would have been mum's birthday and it is the 15th anniversary of her death too and I bought it for her at least 10 yrs previously to that. I love the elegance of it and it will go on flowering for months as well.

I've never had luck with these so I'm very impressed with the age of this one. Maybe I'll try again.

That's a very long life! Amy, I have a Cyclamen which flowers almost non-stop, only water by standing the pot in a saucer of tepid water and it thrives on a windowsill in the smallest room, no heating in there! Brrr! : o )

well it spends most of its life on the kitchen window sill. The heating is never above 18 degrees. Some years it goes dormant ie no leaves and then it ends up in the coal house until september. The last 2 years it hasn't and I carefully repotted it. I pour water in its outer pot and feed with baby bio once every couple of months.
This has hundreds of buds and will go on from Nov-March.

Thanks SBG and Shirley ... I have been watering mine directly into the plant ,I can see that I must stop that and water from the bottom , it obviously dosn't mind being cool either and I thought they liked it warm , thank-you for you help ... :o))

You're most welcome, Amy. Ooh, how's the Saffron doing? : o ))

It's grown well Shirley and looks healthy but no flowers ! I got in touch with Suttons seed people and asked them what I should do next and they said " nothing , leave them until next year " so it looks as if i'm playing the waiting game .. ;o)

Beautiful!
I had one last year that didn't survive this winter's chill..
It never bloomed like yours, but the leaves were huge!
A few were 6" plus due to its' heavily amended organic soil. Next year I want to try one in a container, just in case we get another hard cold snap so I can move the little guy into the house.

yes N2O some of these are 6" or more, but this isnt a hardy one and never ventures outside. It is in a pretty 'bog' standard compost and the plant gets a liquid feed now and again.
