It reminds me very much of himalayan balsam Keith....is it related do you know?

30 Jun, 2012

It is related Karen - common name is Kashmir Balsam.

Wow! I used to have hundreds of these which would come up every summer, when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. They can get a little invasive, though (they're easy to pull up).

It is a plant that you need to keep on top of, although our relatively short summer means that this is far from the nuisance that I.glandulifera (Himalayan Balsam) is.

They're very fast growing nice blooming plants. I like both.

It's lovely Keith and we will all stand up in court for you when it becomes an 'alien invader' ;) only kidding..I won't really stand up for you in court! ;)

Delonix - I.glandulifera has become a problem over here. Someone sent me seeds, but I destroyed them.

Would you sit in court for me then Karen?

1 Jul, 2012

erm.....yes, possibly, as long as you buy me a bag of maltesers after ;)

Meanie:

I've read on-line what an invasive plant I glandulifera is in the U.K.

I know the one I used to grow was I. balfourii...it didn't get as tall as I glandulifera.
