There are a few people here that have posted photos of this Homebird - DD and Hywel are two who spring to mind over here in the UK, along with Delonix of course!
You're correct about the spend (although this is a house plant), but I have a simple solution - don't add it up! And make a big deal of the cheapies too, that makes it seem a lot better!

My plants in the front yard have been blooming since mid-February. It tends to bloom most of the year. This plant only lives about 2 or 3 years, then you have to take new cuttings.

I have one of your phots up as we speak - I was about to ask how you do this.............

To start new cuttings...I just stick them into the ground or in a pot of soil. However, they can be started in water, also.

With a little bottom heat I presume.........

I've been growing this plant for 16 years...I've never had to use bottom heat (and I've started cuttings any time of the year).

The easiest and fastest way to start this plant is in water.
