I've tried these and they just seem to disappear. Your border is lovely.

they love a sunny possition Gee, also well draining as not to rot the crown, so maybe thats it if you get flooded ;o(

That's probably why, Sanbaz, although I put them in my driest spot - obviously not good enough :)

maybe make a small raised bed Gee, just enough to have one, amongst other plants, if you know what i mean, at the back of a border, like a pot without a bottom lol

These seem to be tough cookies....I've 3 clumps now, all beginning to flower, all on the sunny side Gee, but no special treatment....they're not as large a flower as the mid-summer ones and have thinner leaves. Remind me in Spring and I'll send you a piece.

I used to think pokers were all autumn flowering until I saw one flowering in May! I like the autumn ones best though and this is lovely!

I think there are different varieties Hb....I'd only seen the summer flowering ones till we came here and these autumn ones popped up.....:o) The leaves are a bit finer and darker than the summer varieties.
Thanks Sheila.....I love the Dahlia, they are a tuber which you take out when the flowers are done, usually on the first frosts.....dry it off and store it till next spring.
They do Carole....a lovely autumn colour....:o))
