Ribes Sanguineum

Janey

By Janey

Ribes Sanguineum (Ribes sanguineum (Flowering currant))

I love this Spring flowering shrub.....always one to rely on giving a cloud of rosy pink flowers at the beginning of the season.

i love this shrub,Janey.i have two.my grandad had one in his garden when i was little,i use to rub the leaves,to get the smell not the nicest some would say.now when i rub the leaves on mine it takes me straight back to my grandads garden.the place where i learned to love gardening.

I like these too, Janey. Unfortunately mine died suddenly (no reason that I could find) and I have never replaced it. Thanks for reminding me how lovely it is, I will put one on my wish list :)

Thanks everyone......that's a great memory Suey, I like the smell of blackcurrants, Mum and Dad had one when I was little, I thought there would be the currants too...Lol.
This grows very easily Gee....I am always pulling up the seedlings....if you would like one, let me know, it will be in May though, as this next week I'm off to Sydney to see my boy...I can't wait!!
