These last photos of your plants show how beautiful they are....so delicate and pretty, Spritz.

Oh, that is really special...I love all these early shade loving beauties.

It was at a Plant Fair - I hadn't come across it before. I think you know that I really like the little flowers that hide in the shade. :-)

Yes, I feel the same as Janey about woodland plants!

:-)) Guess what - my Lily-of-the-Valley are up - and they'll be in flower soon. I think they've spread a bit, too. :-))))))))) Yayy!!!!

Lily of the Valley is such a pretty flower and the scent is lovely....Did you grow from seed (or are they bulbs?)? I'm not sure as I've never grown them, Barbara.

Piccies when they're in bloom, I hope :)

They're rhizomes, Whl. Sort of thick roots, I suppose! They do spread if they like the position - shady again.

Aha...thanks for the info. :)

21 Mar, 2011

You could start off by buying a pot of them, plant them in a shady corner and let them do their own thing. :-))

Added to my little notebook, Spritz :) Just have to make sure I have the shady spot....our garden gets a lot of sun although I am watching it more carefully this year to get a better idea of how the shade/sun comes into the garden.

Our garden is west facing....I think that's right...the sun rises at the front of our property and sets at the back.

Once you've had the garden re-vamped, I expect you'll have shrubs to make some shade. I hope you'll be able to grow some then.

22 Mar, 2011

Yes, I didn't think about getting shaded areas once things are planted up....good reminder :)

I think every garden needs some shade, Whl. You miss out on so many lovely plants, otherwise. Balance - that's the word! :-)

22 Mar, 2011

Thanks, M. It is a special little plant, isn't it! :-)

24 Mar, 2011

I bought one last year, havent seen it yet this year:o(

and no matter where i plant l.o.v it never seems to spread :o((. It was the flower of my wedding too. in the lace, bouquet and hair adornment. I love it.

It can't be a 'spreader' then, can it - that's a shame.
