Lucy's First Weekend Getaway!

Well Lucy is settling in quite nicely but is a work in progress for being hand held and cuddled. I took her back in and had her wings clipped better and the bird lady told me I just need to let her know who’s boss because they are like children and will try to get their way!
I had previously planned a weekend trip to visit with a friend so I deceided I would break Lucy in young to go with me sometimes. I bought a small travel cage that worked out perfectly. I was a little nervous about it but the bird shop encouraged me that she would be fine and will adjust to my lifestyle. I was so tickled how well she did! She had a great time on the drive which was about an hour long. She had a ball while there and acted like she was on vacation getting treats of fruit and wonderful nutty grain toasted bread!
Here is a picture of Lucy and my friend’s poodle Tiki getting aquainted. It was so funny to watch them!
That is Lucy’s travel cage she seemed quite happy in it!

This should be a book , perhaps a film My travels with a cockatiel with various chapters entitled Lucy loo meets..
Can imagine the rich and famous wanting to be photographed with her,as her celebrity status increases.
Glad she seems to be such a tolerant travelling companion. Dont think I ll try this with Mary parrot.x

Wow that was brave to take her travelling so soon. Sounds like she had a wonderful time. I do hope she turns out to be a great companion, and it's looking good so far.

It was indeed either very brave or........... but the bird people assured me that starting with her young was best and as I said in one of my blogs I am learning new things and spreading my wings too to try things outside of my familiar comfort zone! It is enough that I am venturing off to visit friends etc. by myself but to do that with Lucy is really unlike me! I was very nervous and thinking I needed my head examined but I pushed through and Lucy and I did it! Who knows maybe a Harley IS next! LOL
