Thanks Spritz, have left him a message! Can't believe how many blooms this one is showing off, lovely full flowers- like ballerina's skirts.

I think it is Blueberry Fizz

Drc ...Ooooh that sounds good enough to eat! Thanks.

I think I am going to have to find one as it looks wonderful

It looks like Winston Churchill to me , lovely specimen.
26 Aug, 2009
Is it a bush or trailing variety ?
26 Aug, 2009
I still think itss a blueberry fizz as the petals seem wider than WC but photos can be miss leading

The suspense isn't doing my blood pressure any good.I hope we find out tonight.

Wow...it really is a beauty! If the photo is really true to its colour than I know not....but otherwise it could be Blackie which has a deeper dark purple underskirt.
26 Aug, 2009
It cannot be Blackie because that really is black. hence the name
26 Aug, 2009
My Blackie was very dark purple Drc726....not quite black.

Sorry to be a "party pooper"....Winston Churchill is not so "showy"...and Blackie is really, really , dark purple.........
26 Aug, 2009
does that mean its likely to be a blueberry fizz?
26 Aug, 2009
WOW you guys are so helpful...thankyou for all your lovely comments.
The photo is as close to true life as it could be. I took loads of shots ,but picked this one simply BECAUSE of that.
It's a trailing one so I hope that helps the investigation. Maybe Hywell could solve the mystery for us?

Blue berry fizz is a semi trailing variety with large double blooms it gently cascades so is great for baskets and pots as they flower all summer cost about £7 so look after it.

Oh dear...I've just been googling it and now I'm even more undecided! Whatevery it is though I really like this one,
26 Aug, 2009
It definitely isn't Blackie - I've got that!
Hywel will sort it out - he's really hot on the IDs of Fuchsias!

Thanks Spritz, we'll await his contribution then 8-))

That rules out winston churchill if it trails could well be bluberry fizz.
27 Aug, 2009
Well it trails a bit, not as much as some others I have but definately not a bush type.

My daughter was throwing away two of these as she was re-planting her hanging baskets. They are now in a trough by a sheltered wall and have grown amazingly. I cut them right back last autumn/winter and the flowers are now as big as the palm of my hand. (I still don't know their name).
27 Aug, 2009
Wow, as big as your hand....never seen them that big, have you got a photo?
27 Aug, 2009
Yes a blueberry fizz can have flowers
2 1/2 inches across and its knickers are bigger and frillier than a WC. I saw a WC this morning and they are very similar but not quite so showy.

Is it "Cecile"?
