I have a Goji Berrie plant and each time it flowers the leaves fall off, why? Vicky, Cambridge

I have had the Goji berries for two years, they are quite established in a half whiskey barrel with the correct compost. Each year they look really healthy then the leaves fall off. it gets teh sun in early afternoon through to about 6.30-7pm. i water it when it looks dry on teh surface
