Wait until the leaves have all fallen, around about November through until March. Choose a day when the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged. Prepare the site that the tree is going to so that you can put it straight in once you have dug it up. Add lots of manure/compost to the hole.
Dig up as large a rootball as you can and stake the tree once it is planted in its new position. Keep it well watered all next year.
