Can anyone tell me what this is?

Massachusetts, United States

i forgot what I planted. The flowers have now turned into little bell shaped green shell with a green berry looking fruit inside but when I cut into berry looking thing it resembled a tomato.

It's the spitting dab of a Cape Gosseberry (those fruit in calyx jobbies on the side of the plate in posh restaurants) Physalis capensis.

Yes, once the fruit inside of the green lantern-like calyx turn a yellowish colour, they are quite sweet. They are served in posh restaurants partly for decoration and for eating on the side of the plate/dish of a sweet/pudding.

Specialist growers command quite a high price for them too!
