Tulips. Something has dug my Newley planted bulbs up, any idea's how to stop this happening, think it may be old
foxy :o(

Answers
I often put a section of chicken wire over them fixing the edges into the ground. With tubs i wrap the edges around the rim and raise the chicken wire into a little mound just off the earth. When the young shoots appear in spring I remove the wire.

Maybe putting gravel or bark over newly dug areas could help,i always wonder whether they forgot where they have hidden their stash or think its another squirrels or foxes stash they can pinch but disguising fresh dug areas is always a bonus and making it more difficult for cats to pee in as well :O)

Seems now Tulip bulbs should be planted 10" deep to stop this trouble. Something else to remember !

They should be planted 10 inches deep but not to deter animals from digging them up but because they need to be planted at least 3 times the length of the bulb.

I have a roll of chicken wire, I remember I done that in the front garden a few years ago, silly me, why didn't I think of doing that lol :o)

Happened to me a few years ago and a heavy dusting of chilli pepper put a stop to it. Renew after rain until the culprit gets the message.
