Tomato plant

My 2 tomato plants in a planter started out great and now are about 20 inches tall but are starting to turn yellow at the bottom and leaves are curling. The plants don't look too well now. What could be the problem?

Are they outside? What temperatures have you had - especially at night...it sounds like they may have got too cold. Other possibility is that they haven't been fed?
