Can I start my early peas off in pots rather in the ground and are they frost resistant as all the packets say start planting now

I grew mine along a length of guttering one year having seen the idea somewhere, they grew well but getting them out again on to the border was a challenge!

I grew mine in guttering and made a long trench, loosened the edges and slid the peas out along the trench. They survived the mice and pigeons as well.

Did they all fall apart when you tried to get them out, I got in an awful mess?

No they didn't but I made sure they were watered before I slid them out (big mistake as I had to load them into the car to take to the allotment) - but they were very successful.

I always start mine off early in pots in my unheated greenhouse, and it works well for me, but I grow them in pots anyway. The guttering idea is brilliant for rows.

« Hope this isn't a silly question. I'm advised to cover my raised bed(s)...
I often start mine off in points and keep them in the cold frame. mice/pigeons dont get as many to eat.
