my tomato plants are large and bushy with lots of fruits. but the bottoms of some fruits have turned black. what could be the problem. they are beefsteaks and are in large containers

Andrew is right - remove affected toms and make sure you water and feed regularly and you might still get a crop.

The gardening expert on the radio today suggested watering regularly in the morning rather than the evening for this problem.
