On plant Christmas Roses

Hi great, get them planted and keep them watered, they are pretty hardy but must admit they look pretty limp but fingers crossed they will be alright, these are my favourites, I love them.

Never mind the foliage, Great, do they have long, sturdy roots? If so, they should be OK. make sure that the roots finish naturally and have not been broken.

Grandmage I thought christmas roses were white, these look a light yellow. I have planted them and keeping my fingers crossed. don't think I'll ordere from this company again as every plant looks rather shocked!, limb e.t.c

BB, the roots look in tact.

If they do have good strong roots I would be inclined to cut back the foliage and any flowers to allow the plant to reestablish itself without the stress of feeing the foliage.

Remember they like lots of humus rich neutral to alkaline soil and plant in partial shade, preferably under a deciduous tree so they get sun in winter. Will grow to around 15" in height and need to be planted 12 - 15 inches apart.

Grandmage I have been thinking a lot recently about colours. As I think I have too much blue and white in the garden. If I am sucessful with these plants I may buy some more in different colours.

H. niger is white but there are other hellebores which are not. Yes come autumn time you should see new shoots or possibly even early.

Great I dont have a 'colour' scheme in my garden because I love all colours and I love even the querky colours together, to me it is natures canvas and she chooses the paint !!! :o)

You could use your feet then !!!!!! Dont think you can ever have tooooooo much! however you could thin out next season and have a stall at the front gate and sell some plants to get some money back !

our council AKA scroge will take a percentage of anything sold in or ourtside council property!! True!! If you dare to put a price on your car, they ask for a cut!!

erm, what is a 'colour scheme'? Never bothered with that!
Your council sounds rather draconian, Great, taking a percentage from a gateside plant stall????
