I found some sort of caterpillar looking thing at the back of my garden. It was hanging on a thin strand of web or something and is VERY small, green and thin. When I first found it I think it had a bit of purple on its back end (or front?) and seems to let out a thin threat from its bottom end to grip onto thing? If you have any idea what it is please tell me...

Never noticed them on pine, but I don't have any pine trees in my garden.
I don't know what they are per se. The are defo a type of catapillar - there are countless species of tiny moth and it's probably one of those.
I'll take a photo if I see one tomorrow, but can't promise anything as I'll be out most of the day. ANd my camera is not much good either lol
I am certain it's not a maggot. Don't worry. They will be food for baby birds before long!

No idea what the proper name is, but they are very common. They don't cause any problems I'm aware of. I often find them dangling from my apple trees.
