Mahonia pruning ?
My mahonia is at the back of a border but it’s grown a lot over the past year (it’s about 4 ft x 3 ft now) it’s now overshadowing the border underneath and I think it’s making it dry. Please can someone advise if I can cut it back and if so how ?
If not what can I grow in the shade underneath
Thank you very much

You can cut whole branches off if you want to and it should bud out from below the cut.

That’s great thank you so much- I did chop off some whole branches today - very prickly so should have used proper gloves! But it’s let much more light through
