Could someone please tell me, which is the best rose to cover a garden wall, rambler or climber?

Its not really as simple as that - some climbers are best on large walls, some are much better for arches or pillars - some ramblers make dense lowish thickets, others spread out to cover a large wall. The most important thing is which way the wall faces and how large an area you want to cover in terms of feet and inches - for instance, on north and east walls, Danse du Feu, Leverkusen, Maigold, Mme Alfred Carriere would be best, whereas south and west walls would be good for climbing Ena Harkness, Casino, Royal Gold, Etoile de Holland, Mermaid.

Most ramblers only flower once, though some do repeat. Climbing roses will mostly cover a smaller area but flower for longer. Have a look at David Austin's website.
I have Paul's Himalayan Musk growing into a sycamore - the book says it will reach 30 feet eventually. It has a nice scent but is soon over. Some ramblers will have red hips,(this one doesn't) so you get double value.

As a suggestion of a vigorous repeat flowering climber, the pale pink New Dawn is hard to beat. Looks great mixed with purple clematis (especially viticella types).
Good repeat flowering and vigorous Rambler....The light yellow Malvern Hills is a really good one.
Just my suggestions, there are several indeed many more of course.

A rambler will travel further than most climbers. There are some lovely ones but take the size of your space into account. Kiftsgate and Seagull and Paul's Himalayan Musk grow and grow but there are many less rampant.
