A Visit to David Austin Roses

As a member of a local Garden Centre Club I went recently with a friend to David Austin Roses in Albrighton.
It was a damp start with some ominous clouds around and did not look very promising for a garden visit, however, the weather improved the nearer we got to Albrighton, On arrival the sun was shining and we were ushered straight through for very welcome coffee/tea and biscuits.
Loved their own special china – available in the gift shop!
Their expert then gave us an extremely interesting guided tour after which it was time for a lunch – which was delicious! The day was then our own to wander and admire the beautiful gardens.
Beautiful Rambler – Belvedere
A view through the arches of Adelaide d’Orleans roses down the Long garden.
The Renaissance Garden
The curved box edging on either side of the beds is echoed in the covered seating area overlooking this lovely garden
What a mass of blooms on this bush rose – Ballerina
Some attractive underplanting of a standard rose the dark pink flowers are Penstemons
Close up of Belvedere a Rambler rose
David Austin’s latest Climber called Lady of the Lake
Needless to say the storage areas of the coach on the way home were full to overflowing of fragrant blooms I would certainly recommend a visit it was a super day out, What did I buy? – 3 roses for my daughter’s birthday – Shropshire Lad, Gentle Hermione and The Queen of Sweden all pink all with a delightful perfume.

Oh wow, what a wonderful, Neellan. The roses of course are gorgeous and I like your choice too. (I am very tempted by Gentle Hermione every time I see it mentioned on Goy but where could I put it?) Those curved box hedges are a delight too. Lovely photos, so glad the weather turned out fine for you and that you enjoyed your day. Happy birthday to your daughter too :)

What lovely gardens they are, and a great choice of roses to bring home with you too. I always admire those when the new catalogue comes. The pottery is made nearby - we visited the pottery but not the garden when we lived in Staffordshire and I have a long narrow plate from there that gets used all the time as a bread plate.

I'm full of envy Neena...! I'd love to visit David Austins Nursery... but it's a little too far from here for a day trip! Will have to just drool over the new catalogue that I picked up at Hampton Court instead!

Hi Tracey the catalogue is wonderful isn't it, a shame you are too far away for a day trip, hope you enjoyed Hampton Court - I looked for you on the tv but didn't spot you! :o)
