What is the best compost to use to re-pot my Poinsetta and potted Christmas Tree?

Was given a Ponsetta plant on Christmas Eve 2007. To my amazement it's still alive and now needs re-potting. Don't want to get it wrong and kill the plant. (haven't done well with house plants in the past and this one is a record for me!). Also just got my first real Christmas tree and need to re-pot that. Any ideas? I'm not exactly Charlie Dimmick!! Hi Sue, the Christmas tree I would use john Innes no 3 if you are going to keep it in a pot long term. I cant help with the poinsetta as I dont seem to be able to keep them year to year, but Im sure someone else will be able to help you with that one
