Questions from the US

Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom

We seem to have had a very sudden influx of questions form the USA which nobody in the UK can helpfully answer. Allmost all of them joined the site today -this is very unusual and it would be interesting to know why! Would it be a good idea to have a separate section for them ?

I was thinking exactly the same. Why now? Is the site being promoted there especially, or has someone discovered it and told all their friends? Would be interesting to know.

Looking at the questions it does seem that there has been an influx of new members from the states and one from Canada if these are genuine then I say a big welcome everybody from all over the world to this great site. We can offer help because the size of the states means that a big chunk of the states have a similar climate to us and also lets not forget Tugbrethil he is in Arizona and if he sees the question I am sure he can help

The site might also have just got the same high ranking on google.com as it has on google.co.uk so when our American friends type gardening questions into there search engines goy will appear on the first page of google.com so they will find us lucky them.

I think I've got the answer for you. This website was featured today as "Cool Site of the Day from The Kim Komando Show". Kim (the digital goddess) is very popular over here, so her recommendations reach a great number of people.

Many gardening sites in America charge a fee as well...

I noticed the same..thought it was weird so many Americans signed in this morning, so much so, I was not able to keep up..it was too early. Hope they got their answers and felt welcomed..

If some of them stay around and join in, they'll build up the bank of expertise. It would be great to see some illustrated American blogs!

We now need a bank of American members to answere the American questions. I have no experience of most of the current queries so am not trying to answere them.

Which is why I am not answering them either...

Yes, it is a problem. They might be better off asking their questions on Stackexchange, the gardening and landscape section - that has mostly international members, plenty in America and Canada, and questions about Bermuda grass always get an answer on there, where they may well not on here.

It would be nice if some would post blogs and photos like our downunder friends do......its so very interesting to see whats growing everywhere at the same time....

You're right there Pam - its always fascinating to see gardens in other countries, so having them on here would be great.

Agree Pam it would be great

That's what I meant Bulbaholic and Michaella- just wondered if it would be easier for everybody if there was a separate section for them, obviously with both sections accessible to everybody. Good idea about the blogs!
