The hedgehog was a real surprise! It managed to finish off some cat food that I put out before disappearing into the border again. In previous years I have been lucky enough to have a family of hedgehogs making a nest in the back garden, they demolished the seed bed, trampling the seedlings, but I didn't mind too much...loved seeing the babies! Thank you for your kind comments. :-)
