Flowers

Just had to share this. Lots of beautiful flowers. Not really a gardening blog but sinces its flowers I thought it counted :D
Its my nans 82nd Birthday today and true to form none of us had any idea what to get her. I decided to go back to basics with a nice big boquet of flowers. Started looking round the shops and decided there was no way in hell I was paying £16+ for the arrangements I’d seen (not many flowers), so decided to have a go myself.
Popped in Sainsburys last night on my way home and picked up a lovely bunch of cheerful sunflowers, some lovely stocks (I think), white roses and a mixed bunch of mostly chrysanthemums. Nipped in my local florist for some ferny leafy things (as I tend to describe them lol) and some florist wrap to make an aqua pack (first attempt and it kind of worked). To cut a long story short this was the end result:
By the time I’d got all the flowers in the bunch it was getting pretty tricky to hold lol, my hands (despite have very long fingers) just weren’t big enough. I dropped the one sunflower about 4 times lol. Nan was pleased, even though her house now looks like a florist lol. Most of the family had brought flowers (or a tree in my uncles case lol).

Sam you were so right to do it yourself, it looks smashing and your Nan would probably be more pleased because you did it yourself. Well done I`m impressed.....

I'd have been well chuffed to have got a home made bunch of flowers. It shows care, thought and love.

Anyone can go into a florists and choose a bunch of flowers. It takes a lot of thought and time to put a bunch together yourself.

Thanks guys. Nan told me last night she was really pleased with them. Although she then showed us the new "family photograph" she had drawn but she'd misssed me out :(
Lol Sheilar don't think I could work in a florists. Its entertaining on occasion but I think the hand tied bunches would drive me mad if I had to do it often :P
