The garden in June

I will not write much as there are so many photos this month. I picked up this almost black iris in Newbury recently. It should only grow to 12-18" high. It was named as ‘Black and Gold’ but looking it up on the internet I’m fairly sure it is Iris Chrysographes ‘Black Gold’
4" high white Iris..
Iris sibirica (Siberian Iris)
I cannot remember what this is.

Paul I was determined not to buy any more plants as I am struggling to find spaces for all the ones I have waiting in pots. My heart melted and I had to have what looks like a black iris. I do think the plants look good when they mingle like this but it was not planned. It is the result of me cramming plants in where ever there was a gap. I have quite a few perennial geraniums now and they are very effective in the summer garden.
Bjs it is strange the difference four hundred miles can make. The soil is different. I'm very pleased with the Nomocharis hybrids which I bought from Pitcairn Alpines last year. All 11 flowered. I have them in a 14" square pot and they seemed to like being in the shelter of the Pergola.

The Nomocharis were one of the ones I was thinking of tried them many years ago total failure.

I had hoped to plant these out after they flowered but the space has been swamped with buttercups and convolvulus.
There is no point in planting there until I eradicate these problems. They need good quality humus rich soil which will drain well. Sadly the weeds like those conditions too.

Very nice....I love the black/gold Iris. And, don't the Cistus, a Geranium and Oriental Poppy look great rambling through each other?
